6 Weeks Out

I went to the Bariatric Clinic in Windsor yesterday, to see the doctor and the dietician.  They are incredibly happy with my progress.

I have lost 29 lbs since surgery which puts my total to 109lbs gone forever.  This puts my BMI at 39.9 as opposed to the whopping 56.8 I was when I came in.  Also, I managed to lose 9 inches off my waist.

The dietician was pleased with my food choices and exercise habits, but wants me to up my water intake and calories a bit.

I am pleased with the progress I am making and happy with the choice I made to have the surgery.

Brok's Cheese Crust Pizza

Part of being post-op means eating high protein and low carb meals.
I found this recipe on OH forums.  It is absolutely wonderful.  I changed it to suit my taste though.

I used 2 tsp of fresh minced garlic instead of powder, oregano instead of basil, extra sauce and fresh veggies for toppings instead of meat & black olives.  I added some turkey pepperoni on part of it for Andy.  He loved it too.

Brok's Cheese Crust Pizza

Thin and Crispy Pizza Crust Heat oven to 450 degrees
In a bowl thoroughly combine
3 eggs
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp basil
press evenly into Pam sprayed pizza pan or cookie sheet
(this makes one 16 inch pizza crust)
Bake at 450 degrees until golden brown (about 10 to 15 minutes)

Here is what your crust looks like after baking

It will completely lift off your cookie sheet. I patted the grease off of it, but that step is optional

add toppings of your choice

This one has the following toppings~

1/4 cup low carb marinara
1 cup Mozzarella cheese
2 links Italian sausage (browned and crumbled)
1/4 cup sliced back olives

After adding toppings, run the pizza under the broiler until cheese is melted and toppings are bubbly

This slices up beautifully and the crust is crispy and thin

Yes, you can hold it in your hand!

My One Month Surgiversary

Happy One Month Surgiversary to Me

Today marks one month since I had surgery on May 11, 2012.  I am feeling great about my choice to have weight-loss surgery.

Yesterday was my birthday and also the first day of eating soft, solid foods.  It was great to eat things that didn't have to be run through a blender.  All in all, it was a wonderful day even without a cake.

In one month I have lost 24 lbs and 4 inches off my waist.  I am happy with that.  The pictures below, show me the day before surgery and one month after.

3 Weeks Out

I decided to move my blog to this location.  This was actually written on June 1st.

I had my RNY gastric bypass 3 weeks ago today. If it were not for the tiny little scars, I would not believe they did the surgery and re-routed my insides. I have had no ill side-effects and generally feel very well. I am averaging a 1 pound/day weight loss. Most of my weight loss has been in my face, neck and boobs. The fat's just sliding on down.  With any luck, it will slide all the way off and not get stuck on my butt and thighs.

I rarely feel real hunger. I am occassionally experiencing head hunger though. When I don't have much to do, I find myself looking to graze. My solution to this is to find something to clean and/or have some sips of water. No harm can come of this habit. I'll finally have a skinny ass and a clean house. Who knew that was even possible???

I am currently on the pureed stage of the WLS diet. My favourite meal so far was salt-reduced, canned ham and Fat-free Miracle whip put through the food processor. I am not very adventurous yet about trying new foods. I'm in no rush at all.
I am absolutely in love with Oikos non-fat plain greek yogurt. It is so high in protein and is yummy.

I feel truly blessed that I was able to have this surgery. I am looking forward to being around for my son and finally enjoying all the activities that a healthy body will allow.
