It's been a while

I know it's been a while since I updated my blog.  I am now just over 8 months out.  I have lost 83 lbs since surgery for a grand total of 163 lbs and 16 inches off my waist.  Check me out with my "fat pants".

5  Month Surgiversary

I know this is late.  I was reminded ever so kindly to update this blog.  LOL  Bad me!

I am officially 5 months out now and still happy with my choice to have RNY gastric bypass.
I have lost 61 lbs since surgery, which puts my total loss at 141 lbs.

This month was a struggle too. I am only supposed to lose 1-2 lbs a week now and I find it frustrating after such dramatic losses before.  At least my weight is still going in the right direction though. 43 lbs left to go.

I am really enjoying buying normal clothes in an XL.  I found out that I can outrun my 5 year-old.  Now that's a real victory for me.  For the longest time, I could never keep up to him.

4 Month Surgiversary

I am officially 4 months out now and still happy with my choice to have RNY gastric bypass.
I have lost 54 lbs since surgery, which puts my total loss at 134 lbs.

This month was more of a struggle than previous months.  Diet and exercise have been more of a challenge and my weightloss has slowed down a bit.  Completely normal but still frustrating.

I saw the doctor and dietician at the bariatric clinic in Windsor.  They are very happy with my progress.  It's hard to believe that I've lost 15 inches off my waist and have less than 50 lbs to lose now.

My only regret is not doing this sooner.

Three Month Surgiversary

I am offically three months out and still loving my RNY!
I have lost 47 lbs since surgery, which puts my total loss at 127 lbs.

As a reward for more hard work, I bought myself a new pair of jeans.
In size 16!!!
That sure beats the size 32 I used to wear.

I am truly blessed to have so much support from friends and family.  Thanks to all of you.  And thanks to Karen for compiling my pics for me.

Two Month Surgiversary

I am offically two months out and loving my RNY!
I have lost 36 lbs since surgery, which puts my total loss at 116 lbs.

As a reward for my hard work, I went shopping for clothes at, get this. . . . .
OLD NAVY
Maybe this doesn't sound like a big deal to some of you, but to me it is a major NSV (non-scale victory).  I haven't purchased clothes at a normal store in close to twenty years.  And to make this event even sweeter, they had a one day only, 30% off everything sale.  Since most of the things I liked were already on sale, it made my purchases ridiculously cheap.  I bought 8 shirts, 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of capris and a sports bra for an amazing $99.22 including tax. All that stuff would have cost no less than $350 at the plus-size stores.

SCORE!!!

6 Weeks Out

I went to the Bariatric Clinic in Windsor yesterday, to see the doctor and the dietician.  They are incredibly happy with my progress.

I have lost 29 lbs since surgery which puts my total to 109lbs gone forever.  This puts my BMI at 39.9 as opposed to the whopping 56.8 I was when I came in.  Also, I managed to lose 9 inches off my waist.

The dietician was pleased with my food choices and exercise habits, but wants me to up my water intake and calories a bit.

I am pleased with the progress I am making and happy with the choice I made to have the surgery.

Brok's Cheese Crust Pizza

Part of being post-op means eating high protein and low carb meals.
I found this recipe on OH forums.  It is absolutely wonderful.  I changed it to suit my taste though.

I used 2 tsp of fresh minced garlic instead of powder, oregano instead of basil, extra sauce and fresh veggies for toppings instead of meat & black olives.  I added some turkey pepperoni on part of it for Andy.  He loved it too.

Brok's Cheese Crust Pizza

Thin and Crispy Pizza Crust Heat oven to 450 degrees
In a bowl thoroughly combine
3 eggs
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp basil
press evenly into Pam sprayed pizza pan or cookie sheet
(this makes one 16 inch pizza crust)
Bake at 450 degrees until golden brown (about 10 to 15 minutes)

Here is what your crust looks like after baking

It will completely lift off your cookie sheet. I patted the grease off of it, but that step is optional

add toppings of your choice

This one has the following toppings~

1/4 cup low carb marinara
1 cup Mozzarella cheese
2 links Italian sausage (browned and crumbled)
1/4 cup sliced back olives

After adding toppings, run the pizza under the broiler until cheese is melted and toppings are bubbly

This slices up beautifully and the crust is crispy and thin

Yes, you can hold it in your hand!
